Today is #InternationalRabbitDay 🐰🐇. Rabbits and hares in heraldry are often used as a play on the name of the bearer. This wonderful coat of arms from the Bishop's Palace in Wells, Somerset, is attributed to John Harewell, Bishop of Bath and Wells from 1366-1386. #bathheraldry #hookedonheraldry

Today is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and the start of summer. This coat of arms, granted to William Knight, Bishop of Bath and Wells (1541-1547), seems particularly fitting with the sun's rays currently sending temperatures to red hot levels ☀️🌡️!
