Is auf der Toaplan Arcade Collection zufällig Batsugun Special drauf? Weil wenn ja, höchste Empfehlung.

'Batsugun' está considerado el padre del género bullet hell, aunque no alcanza los niveles de locura de otros títulos que llegarían después. Me gustó mucho

#Shmuptember is over and my hands are fucked. Best games I played for the first time last month were:
- Crimzon Clover
- Mushihimesama

You go to the store and all you can find is garbage like this. And they tell me they only got one copy of grand theft auto? Come on!

Thank you! Your example and encouragement were definitely inspiring o7 Now to ponder which bmup is next after BATSUGUN. (I'm thinking SoR2 Mania?)

Aw thank you!! Yeah, next up is definitely BATSUGUN, and then maybe (maybe?) another beat em up, then I don't know if I should do Rayforce -> Donpachi or go straight to Donpachi, but once I get to that I'm gonna go straight through the series up to DOJ

okay maybe i am not bad at shmups. those hours spent grinding batsugun and failing + using a dpad actually mattered.

I'm just not a fan of Truxton/Tatsujin. Toaplan's shmups aren't my fav at all for the slow pace and punishing checkpoints they have until they made Batsugun where the action picked up.
I'm glad Toaplan still lives on by Masahiro Yuge, one of the original founders, maintaining the rights.

I hear far more Dodonpachi and Mushimesama than Batsugun Special tbh.
But that's a vertical shmup, not horizontal. Those are two very different animals. I'd say give the Cotton games a go before Deathsmiles.

DS does get recommended a lot for new comers because you can control the difficulty and it’s patterns can be tame. But with the way option control works and the forward backward shot I’d say it can be misleading. If we were to equate, Batsugun special is such a heavy rec I’d say that’s the McD here.

also i was messing with some shmups after i got my batsugun clear and armed police batrider seems surprisingly doable?? at least the normal course i'm sure advanced is fucked up. but i was under the impression that this was completely a sicko game. maybe i'm mixing it up with garegga

The first game Tsuneki Ikeda worked on, released about a year before Batsugun and a couple years before DonPachi. I first poked at it during my teenage MAME exploration years,...

Some of my favorite shmups currently:
- Gunbird 2 (OG fave on Dreamcast )

- Dariusburst Chronicle Saviors (a classic updated really nicely)
- Dimahoo (love the character/ship designs)
- Ikaruga (I am a massive Treasure fan boy, in part because of this game)
