I’m not a k-12 teacher anymore, but my batterer, who I reported to our administration, is. And the man stays abusing. I’ve spoken to his new victims. Abusers fail up.
After sexual violence, it's victims who get punished the most. Victims who lose their jobs and have to leave their industries. Victims who lose their friends and support systems. Victims who lose their health and sanity. Perpetrators might lie low, sometimes, before being handed it all back.

We have plenty of shelters here, but circumstances exist where people are not able to go through that process. For example, "71% of pet owners entering domestic violence shelters report that their batterer had threatened, injured, or killed family pets." www.sheriffs.org/publications...
Whatever the reasons were, it´s coward to abandon a pet, in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands there´re no kill shelters at all, so if you can´t afford the vet costs anymore, if you became sick or lost your job and/or your apartment you can take your pets there to be rehomed.
