Today during supervision, a BCaBA told me that austic children need ABA so that they won't be too weird to make friends when they get to school.

Note: in phase 2, N=44 providers were surveyed, of whom N=31 were RBTs, N=1 was a BCABA, N=1 was a BCBA, & N=8 "indicated no coursework in behavior analysis. Although these eight individuals indicated no formal coursework, they were providing behavior analytic services to autistic individuals"

The problem is that the tiniest bit of reinforcement (a midterm win for example) will likely be enough reinforcement.

In learning theory, there's something called "extinction burst." I think we're approaching that now.
The problem is that the tiniest bit of reinforcement (a midterm win for example) will likely be enough reinforcement.

I think its more that we are experiencing an extinction burst from literal high school children who are finding it increasingly difficult to find relevance in a scene that doesn't favor clout anymore, and hasn't for close to a decade.
**When I provided documents and spreadsheets for my former BCaBA job, they came from the perspective of a disabled person. This helped refocus the work on client needs instead of societal needs. That's a pretty big deal.

My old boss still reaches out sometimes. She didn't have a choice in me leaving. She wanted my job made permanent, and HER boss refused.
I got asked for documents/spreadsheets for years after leaving my BCaBA job.

So, even my dad admits now that Medicaid is going to be cut under Trump/Musk. Medicaid is how I, a BCaBA, pay the bills that allow me to support him and my mother. But good news! My dad thinks this is a POSITIVE thing, and that my clinic will make more money relying only on private insurance.
