Remember when Premier Gordon Campbell promised privatizing BC Rail would “provide lower rates, faster service, new transportation infrastructure, new jobs and new resources for economic development in the North"? (2003). archive.news.gov.bc.ca/releases/arc... #bcpoli #bcrail #bclab

Remember that time the BC Liberals helped CN Rail avoid hundreds of millions of dollars in federal taxes via BC Rail privatization deal? (Yeah, that deal, the one that resulted in criminal convictions for two ministerial aids.) Vaughn Palmer from 2010. #bcpoli #BCRail

Great! But VIA rail is feeble out West and BCRail was nixed in a scam (literally)

We need a lot more rail all over the country. I get that a big flagship megaproject can inspire but it can also fail and delay wider changes.

Anyway, I'm in support of all rail that we can make happen #CarsAreATrap

We are incredibly close to bringing BCRail back! CN ends their lease on the Squamish and Lilloet subdivisions in july, and people are suggesting transfering the line to a shortline operator. We don't need a shortline, we had BCOL! Protest, lobby, to bring our mountain lady back!

@wtyppod.bsky.social hi you should do an episode on the 2002 BC legislature raids & the following scandal I am NOT biased and not politically motivated and NOT saying this now following recent events revolving around the potential reactivation of BCRail

I absolutely loathe how comfortable the NDP has gotten with their unaccountability. Daby Evie needs a reality check before the party dives the way of the federal NDP. It’s disgusting what little they’ve done for the province with all the opportunities they have.

And where the fuck are the trains.

When I was studying for my degree I had a story from my teacher who was a manager at BCRail, one of these permanently coupled wellcar sets were involved in an accident and despite only one of the cars getting damaged, they had to write the set off, despite being physically able to just add a knuckle

I'd love it if BCRail was brought back, especially since CP (?) isn't using the line. I took it a few times from 100 Mile to N. Van, and train buffs from all over the world came just to travel on it. It was also basic transportation for peope in Seton Portage etc. which weren't very accessible.

when I was looking through the Half Life wiki, I found out the razor trains in HL2 use a specific BCrail horn, just distorted a bit to make it sound more 'alien'

Struck gold!
Found a tape from BCRail going over the electrification system for the Tumbler Ridge line, I learned they set up a digital monitoring system for it (IN 1981!!) with a remote microwave link spanning 700km across the province. Link in comments
