Had a great time at #BDiGRA conference at USW in Cardiff this week. Lots of great work. Some standouts were talks on dress up and cosy games, virtual pets, interfaces, games and conspiracies, reflections on Game City festivals. Also great to see momentum growing for practice as research.

Fascinating lightning talks at #BDiGRA on roguelikes by @cgislam.bsky.social, queerness in British games studies, trans emergence in games, ecogaming and some very pretty diagrams from @jarona7.bsky.social about affective encounters in games

I was accepted to BDiGRA, so that’s another Furry Studies paper I’m giving at a conference this year. 😁😁

And realised I spend have been tagging my #BDigra posts as #BDiGRA25
After two days discussion of British Game Studies, and what makes something 'British', am thinking of a cinema double bill of Local Hero and The Wicker Man... Possibly not the best idea I've ever had

Had a great time giving my talk, "Taboo Interfaces and infrastructures on the periphery of gameplay" at British DiGRA today. Hello! I’m a history and games researcher. I co-run @historygamesnet.bsky.social, co-lead the Games Cultures research group at BCU in the UK, and used to be on the BDiGRA board.

Definitely agree, I'm just too lazy to organise the RtD-style games conference I think we need :) But BDiGRA now has a SiG for it, and I've heard rumblings of new things from HCI games peeps too!

Really need to try and post more here... here's what I've been up to!

Baby's first conference presentation ✅ had a grand old time at BDiGRA 2026 meeting and chatting with some really cool people. (Hi to everyone who's found me here!)

Got to blabber about dress-up for a few minutes :3

This is a conference for the British chapter of the Digital Games Research Association, hence our focus. As stated on the link, "Hopefully, this will inform the future direction of BDiGRA as an organisation, given its role in representing everyone who works on games research in, and around, the UK."

Preparing for #bdigra, in the company of Crash magazine's Worst Game of 1986.
It retailed for £7.95 back then.
Inflation-adjusted, that's £25 by now.
Put another way, three of these = one GTA 6, and I know which I'd go for.
Now where's the Spectrum gone?
