A caller on Sept. 25 told officers about a car stopped for an unusually long period at a stop sign on Beachcliff Boulevard at Avalon Drive. Officers arrived to find a 63-year-old Westlake man driving the car. He admitted to drinking, and officers spotted an open can of Bud Ice behind the front seat on the passenger floorboard, according to a statement from the police.

Council awarded a $6,673,393.50 contract to Fabrizi Trucking & Paving for the Beachcliff and Cornwall Sewer Improvement Project, which includes sanitary and storm sewer replacement, water main work, roadway reconstruction and pedestrian safety enhancements; outside funding and an OPWC loan may cover part of the cost.
