I wonder if a military coup attempt may happen before too long in the US.
Historically, coups are what the US does abroad, but the sort of instability and institutional incompetence we're seeing coupled with a vastly unpopular war means this might be the most likely time.

It's both. Powell's term as chair is up soon. Trump will replace him, with Powell presumably remaining as a governor. But he wants to humiliate Powell for defying him & gain total control of the Fed. Trump is power-hungry so he can exact retribution & he pursues revenge to show how powerful he is.
