Is he having a breakdown on the downlow?

I’m getting ‘Howard Beale, but heavily sedated‘ vibes here. It’s almost as if he’s calmly, deliberately saying the worst and most self destructive truths at every opportunity.

Doesn’t he have family who can stage an intervention?

"Well, I never thought I would say that one of my theatre heroes – Simon Russell Beale – was awful, but he really is in this production about Liberace," our critic writes of the new @pitlochryft.bsky.social staging. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🧵👇

Yeah, wind is an awesome power source when made very large, but the physics of how much energy is in a small circle of wind and how disrupted windflow is close to the ground means you need turbines to be huge. For any small scale generation (say under 200 kW) solar crushes wind. This is 0.8 kW.

"The House of Beale is the oldest piano house in Australasia. Throughout its half century of existence it has seen the passing of many 'improvements' and fashions in piano styling..."

I'm going with that guy that plays Ian Beale on Eastenders. Always looked dodgy to me that one.

Kind of gives the game away that Gordon Gecko became the pop culture inspiration for this set when Ned Beatty in Network was right there

Fine Australian/British actor Peter Finch was BOTD in 1916 & died in 1977 at 60. He won a posthumous best actor Oscar for his prophetic performance as Howard Beale in Lumet's "Network" (1976)& famously played a gay Jewish doctor in Schlesinger's "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" (1971)

Each big advance in mass media has brought social & political upheaval (with 1 exception).

Printing: The Reformation
Mass circulation newspapers: hypernationalism
Radio: fascism
Internet/social media: this dystopian hellhole.

The exception: TV, which, Howard Beale notwithstanding, was a pacifier.

Below, Peter Finch in Network, which I've thought about a lot for how well it predicted this future. Finch won an Oscar for his Howard Beale, but it was posthumous; he died two months before the ceremony. Beyond Network, his filmography is rich and varied, well worth a look.
