TOKYO LIGHTS 2026 returns to Shinjuku from May 23 to 31, with actress Tao Tsuchiya as official ambassador. Highlights include 12 light artworks at Shinjuku Central Park, Luke Jerram's "GAIA" making its Japan debut, a new piece by Yoichi Ochiai, and the 1minute Projection Mapping Competition.
Luke Jerram's "GAIA" installation — a giant illuminated sphere about 7 meters in diameter, displaying a high-resolution image of Earth based on NASA surface data, suspended within a metal truss frame at night. A crowd of visitors gathers below, gazing up at the glowing planet. The illuminated column glows against a backdrop of trees, distant city skyscrapers, and a star-filled sky. © TOKYO LIGHTS Executive Committee Public Relations Office Embrace by Beamhacker: Beamhacker's interactive installation "Embrace" — a circular arrangement of life-sized human-shaped silhouettes outlined in glowing green and blue neon, holding hands to form a ring.
