#BeeFriday Heather is a wonderful plant for pollinators in autumn and spring. As long as you don’t buy the ‘bud’ heathers, the flowers don’t open, so are no good for bees.

Anyway, here are two male early bumblebees 🐝, the fluffiest of them all. The one on the right is fading - literally. At first glance I thought it was a strange looking common carder. #Fridaybee #beeFriday 🐝
A very fluffy early bumblebee feeding on the side of a pink thistle flower. It is facing left and has a yellow collar that looks like a lions mane. It has 2 black stripes and a further yellow one at the abdomen and a peachy coloured tip to its tail. This is also an early bumblebee with the same markings as previous photo but it is much more faded. It is still fluffy and has more beige colour than yellow and the tail is less peachy and more beige.

#BeeFriday the bees love this geranium, it’s always covered in them. Wish I knew its name, it’s makes a good strong upright mound and has fluffy leaves.
