M44 - The Beehive Cluster. With the naked eye, this is just a vague fuzzy patch - the Ancient Greek poet Aratus called it "Little Mist"...but in Ancient Greek. It really jumps out with binoculars.

610 light years away in the constellation Cancer. It is an open cluster with approximately 1000 stars in the local group. Visible under dark skies or with binoculars, etc.
