So I'm at my parents house and have been I've been given some heirlooms from my grandma who died a few years ago. One of them is this 1907 edition of Mrs. Beetons cookbook and there are some absolute gems in here.

Spine of the dustjacket is only slightly faded, but the overall is almost in fine condition.

Written in 1886, and rejected by a variety of publishers for being either too long or too short, Arthur Conan Doyle eventually sold the story, and rights, to Ward Lock & Co. for the sum of £25.

It’s interesting now, at a time when we seem to struggle with making creative work pay, to see how many adverts surround the story. 30 pages of ads before you get to Watson’s intro.
