Hand bellows are underway.

Got the layout done for one side. I'll cut this out and just trace it for the second one.

Did a bunch of other errands this morning I'm too tired to convey at the moment.
A 2' x 4' piece of plywood with pencil marks outlining a shield shape and various layout tools like dividers, tape measure and combination square laying on top of it

“There she would sit, as in a throne,” a niece once recalled of George Bellows’s mother, Anna. In this painting, which evokes the Parisian interiors of such French artists as Édouard Manet, Bellows depicted his mother in a large chair in the Victorian parlor of their family home in Columbus, Ohio. This forthright presentation of a distinguished, elderly woman with a strong character, coupled with the subdued palette, also recalls the portraiture of Thomas Eakins, whom Bellows greatly admired. The painting’s power derives in part from its highly structured composition. Influenced by the artist Jay Hambidge’s theory of dynamic symmetry, Bellows constructed the portrait in an organized, geometric arrangement of proportionate rectangles and triangles. 💔 Pushing through the heartbreak to say that I am running in honor and memory of the 27 campers and counselors who died at Camp Mystic, among the 130+ who died in the floods across the state! It's thru Team 27, raising $ for the kids' memorial foundations and running to remember them together.

How to describe?... It's a black and white photo of some foliage. Something is wrong, something is very wrong. Every bit of backlight flares like nothing else. While there is a focal point, there is no real focal plane - the plane is actually curved. Everything is very soft, everything is very bokehy, even when it should be in focus. How to describe?... It's a black and white photo of a Hepworth sculpture. The backlighting flares, the image is soft. The Hepworth itself is likely Winged Figure 1961–2 Aluminium with aluminium rods and Isopon 587.5 × 254 × 159.5 cm Presented by the artist’s daughters, Rachel Kidd and Sarah Bowness, through the Trustees of the Barbara Hepworth Estate and the Art Fund © Bowness. In 1963 Hepworth’s Winged Figure was unveiled, mounted on the side of the John Lewis department store on Oxford Street in London. This full-scale prototype for the sculpture is nearly six metres tall and forms the centrepiece of the collection of working models gifted by the Hepworth family. Hepworth was a great admirer of the socialist ethos of John Lewis, a shop that was collectively owned by its workers, and she was attracted by the prominence of the site. The design was praised for embodying ‘the idea of resurgence or aspiration… long associated with the Partnership’. How to describe?... It's a black and white photo of a Hepworth sculpture. It's so incredibly soft, and vague. Backlighting is eating away at the image, the lens has little control for flare. The Hepworth itself is likely Spring (Plaster) 1966 Plaster with strings 76.8 x 58.7 x 54.2 cm Presented by the artist’s daughters, Rachel Kidd and Sarah Bowness, through the Trustees of the Barbara Hepworth Estate and the Art Fund © Bowness. Spring was cast from an elmwood carving, Oval Form with Strings and Colour, that Hepworth had completed in 1965. Its rounded egg-like form is juxtaposed by the tense elements of the strings that cut through the centre. This contrast between hard and soft, curves and lines, solids and voids is a quintessential aspect of Hepworth’s abstraction. A bronze version was cast from this plaster with a green-blue patina on the interior, while this work has a white interior that may have been smoothed down after casting.

A temporary fix inherits permanent stresses. ⚠️

When we bridged this 20-inch gap, we assumed the scaffolding was enough. We were wrong. The bellows were designed to breathe, not to act as lateral anchors. When the pressure spiked, the bypass didn't just leak. It squirmed.

Portrait. Former stretcher for the canvas to this piece is on R7A1.3 MS. Yes, that is her wedding gown. The realist painter George Bellows met Mrs. Mary Brown Tyler at the Chicago Arts Club and asked her to pose for him. After first sitting in a burgundy-colored dress from her youth, she dressed in the gown she had worn at her wedding nearly sixty years earlier. Bellows captured not only the textures and details of the dress, but also Mrs. Tyler’s spirited personality. Members of her high society family found the portrait so undignified they insisted Bellows not identify her by name in its title.

This display case shows some of the artefacts found at the local iron working sites at Beauport Park and Crowhurst Park. Beauport park iron works date to around 80 A.D. it was one of the largest of its kind in the Roman Empire. Crowhurst Park is much smaller but also older. #Bexhill
Tuyere - a pipe like device used in iron-working. Tuyeres were designed to send the hot air fanned by bellows into the furnace to increase the temperature, producing a fire hot enough to melt iron ore. There are three in the picture, they are a thin cylindrical shape and dark brown with heavy corrosion. Tuyere caps - these were made of clay and were inserted in the base of the furnace. There are three in the picture, all mid to dark brown and seemingly random shapes.
