And by that I mean they're coming from "I wish I was still in my prime, but I'm not, so I'm going to talk about back when I played with X player in 1990".
The problem is also that ESPN and Amazon and NBC seem to *demand* insipid commentary. Jason Benetti during Sox/Yanks was absolute dogshit.

I enjoyed this a lot. Some of the groups were very good. The Cubs Padres team was excellent. Benetti was great on the Yankees Red Sox and the White Sox crew was also very good. The baseball overall was not great though. Lots of blowouts and poor play.

Questo progetto è stato concepito per gareggiare al Trofeo Jules Verne, un'competizione che premia il giro del mondo in equipaggio nel minor tempo possibile. Alla presentazione erano presenti il presidente dell'Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Settentrionale, Davide Gariglio, e il sindaco di Livorno, Luca Salvetti, entrambi visibilmente soddisfatti per un'iniziativa destinata a riportare la città al centro della nautica d'eccellenza.

if you're talking pxp they do not tend to only do baseball, many of them are multi-sport guys. Benetti does everything, Davis does football, Kevin Brown in Baltimore does college basketball. John Sadak in Cincinnati did basketball quite a bit.

national analysts and pxp almost always are also local broadcasters? Joe Davis, Benetti, Sciambi, etc. I just fundamentally disagree that being a local broadcaster influences this. It's just whether you actually like the game or not.

JD and Grant are both wonderful. I’m a Cubs fan so I’m biased toward JD, but I also watch a ton of SD games because Orsillo and Grant are so good together. Benetti is the best in the business, but Orsillo is 1a. For my money there isn’t a better color guy than JD.
