#beryllium
For typical alkaline-earth ions used in quantum computing (like Calcium-40 or Beryllium-9), this quantum threshold limits temperatures to a fraction of a millikelvin (~ 0.5 𝑚𝐾) leaving them nearly frozen in 3D space.

Focal speakers are about the best, bookshefd pairs at around $2000,2500
Im on my secondpair, beryllium tweeters.
They're American, they say they're made in France.
two Warfdales in the middle but thy're bossy.
On the other side my best find. 2 small wall bracket SVS w/ sonos Amp 2.

Saw this sign and wondered: The letters replacing "au" are gold color and the atomic symbol of gold is "Au". Coincidence or visual wordplay?

When I got home, I looked up the color of beryllium (atomic symbol "Be"), and it's steel-gray. Whoa, _nice_.

Aaaaannnd nobody is freaking out a/b this more than me..

So it would seam James Simons got the Airforce to nuke Greenland to make either Beryllium or..Alpha particles or tru ions/ atom lattice crystals

Or all 3..

I gotta look.. I have no idea if anyone can see this...but its weird.. even 4 me

& just to tie all of this in a nice Am- 241 tri alpha energy Pixar boy Marcel Monsters Inc s inc bow

Beryllium! TAE uses Beryllium

The tri alpha process a stellar nuclesynthesis reaction were 3 Alpha particles passing thru an unstable beryillium-8 intermediate to create carbon 12 inside stars..

Oh yes. I muted the name of that raccoon that has people insane with cuteness in Seattle because I effing HATE the filthy destructive disease-ridden beasts (raccoons) who tried to destroy my garden and my roof. They're Earth's equivalent of the Galaxy Quest critters.

"The plant processed plutonium, uranium and a carcinogenic metal called beryllium in the pursuit of classified projects during the Cold War. In decades since the plant closed in 1997, many of the workers have been diagnosed with cancers, often those most commonly associated with radiation exposure."
After building nuclear weapons in Florida, they fought cancer. Now they fight red tape
Former nuclear weapons plant staffers testified in Tampa about the years they’ve waited for long-promised financial help.

Almost every household still contains some in the form of beryllia (beryllium oxide). Leaving aside the obvious electrocution risk, never dismantle your microwave oven!

Beryllium still presents a disposal hazard when e-waste is shredded, crushed, incinerated, or smelted, transforming solid components into respirable dust or airborne toxic fumes.

The folks who made the early nuclear bombs had a similar problem as beryllium is used as a neutron moderator.

I have a small ingot of the stuff. Poisonous if airborne. You wouldn't want to lick it either.

Occupational medicine pioneer Dr. Harriet Louise Hardy was born #OTD in 1906.

Her discovery of the link between industrial beryllium exposure and fatal lung disease forced the fluorescent lamp industry to completely eliminate the toxic metal in 1949. #WomenInSTEM 🧵

The 'Demon Core' experiment pushed the boundaries of criticality. One slip of a beryllium dome, and a runaway nuclear reaction began, unleashing a lethal burst of radiation in an instant. A chilling gamble with unimaginable stakes.
