hey leave wikipedia alone
its one of the last places where bibiliographies still hold value
remember bibliographies? that used to be a required portion of my research assignments in highschool - fuck you Open AI. Is this another marketing campaign to show off to your AI competitors? Eat my ass

"While this is a history course, I don't want to see in your bibliographies any thirty-year-old overviews of the 18th century. Not even if they're from Palgrave Macmillan. Keep them for your palaeography class."

[Swottish sniggers]

"Professor, they're not thirty years old."

"What?"

Question for the #Zotero crowd. I intend to make several bibliographies public. Is there a way to upload a file explaining the nature of these bibliographies and the inclusion/exclusion criteria? I’m thinking of something along the lines of a "README.txt" file. Thanks in advance.

I have checked both of their bibliographies out previously, and nothing seemed to fit. But I will check again.

Sunday: the day upon which academics pretend to do “light reading” and end up correcting bibliographies with the self-righteous zeal of a monk illuminating manuscripts. Some say rest is good for the soul; I suppose pedantry is too.

Question aux utilisateurs de #Zotero.

Links are like end notes/bibliographies: a birdeye view of where research originates & what might be missing. The eye + brain take in a lot of data by scanning/glossing.
Similar to paper maps vs apps: Google maps gets me to where I'm going but I dont know where I am (in relation to other places)

Lyla will have whole bibliographies available in multiple formats, especially for professional works (her scribe mammet Quill is invaluable there)

but she doesn't always go into detail in regular conversation. Sometimes it is just "trust me" citations or personal anecdotes in which she omits things
#wolqotd

Does your WoL/OC site their sources?

A full title and page number? Just an author or spell creator? Maybe even just saying what class they learned something in?

Or is it more of the "trust me" style?

Bibliographies as recommendation engines is underrated. The Modern Library edition of Ulysses has a reading list that could keep you busy for years.

Not even 8am and I have already noted "bibliographies are organised in alphabetical order" far too many times (marking life)

As a non-historian my unqualified opinion is, that in Bibliographies the “von” is treated as part of the first name. Btw., it is perfectly normal when it comes to "Personen der Zeitgeschichte" to write e. g. "Bismarck" instead of “von Bismarck”.

but what if this is the systems working as designed? what if the same bullshit that creates imagined sources in bibliographies and imagined witnesses in legal briefs is the same thing that creates reports of imaginary pathing that contradict the system’s actual actions? that’s an unfixable problem

Like pressing "Enter" to get hanging indents? You could be setting yourself up for a lot of extra—and unnecessary—formatting work on your bibliography. https://www.jdavidstark.com/how-you-should-not-format-your-bibliographies/ @SBLStudents @sblpress @Microsoft
