My town of Bijagua, Costa Rica via drone. Bijagua is in the valley between Volcan Miravalles (seen in the distance) and Volcan Tenorio (not in the shot). This transitional zone between the dry forest on left and Caribbean slope on the right makes for incredible diversity.

One of my favorite things about the tropical dry forests of Guanacaste are the winter visiting Scissor-tailed Flycatchers. They're later than a lot of other N American migrants, but they're starting to show up in good numbers now. When it gets too wet in Bijagua, I just head down to the sun. #birds

One of my favorite little birds, Torrent Tyrannulets spend their entire lives catching insects next to rushing streams. Torrents, if you will. They're very small and they flit from perch to perch along the water's edge.
