From Amsterdam Centraal it was about a 10 minute walk to where the barge was docked.

We debarged in Nigtevecht for a shakedown ride, about 10 miles total, and met up with the barge again in Breukelen (for which Brooklyn, NY—formerly New Amsterdam—is named). #bike&barge

Nz is so weak on regulations, unless it’s something that is ‘unusual’.

After that the schedule most days was the same. We stayed on the barge at night, and had breakfast and dinner on the barge. There was a chef on board who served us some excellent meals. Dinner usually had some kind of international theme. #bike&barge

Day 2 on the Erie Canal! Started off having coffee and breakfast with the wonderful group I met yesterday. They are all retired and met on a bike and barge Facebook group and now go on bike trips together, it’s truly the dream. Here’s two shots of Brockport including this old school ivory soap ad.

The next day (Saturday) the barge left the dock around noon. We had to wait a bit for one of the drawbridges, then were out into the canals and headed down towards Utrecht. #bike&barge
