ii) All of the carbonaceous demand can be met by (e-)biomethanol, synthesised from biomass and green hydrogen. Methanol is an extremely versatile basic chemical; it can be used in ships, to make kerosene, and for plastics.

This is an interesting project - green hydrogen from onshore wind, CO2 from crop waste, for around a 75% reduction in carbon emissions. Be interesting to see the cost. Europe really needs to get a move on with green fuels and chemicals or China will boss them like it did with batteries and EVs.

Our "minimal methanol economy" concept is compatible with initially using gas turbines or engines for backup, then switching later to drop-in (e-)biomethanol or fossil gas compensated by CDR elsewhere:

As the hydrogen bubble deflates, what are the alternatives? We present a "minimal methanol economy": using methanol as a gap-filler for the few sectors electrification can't reach.

The reckoning that must come for those involved in this fraud must be swift and brutal.

The vast majority of sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) used to "decarbonise" are biofuels with uncertain provenance.

Biomethanol for shipping fuel also needs interrogation.
More evidence of #biofuel fraud: New study by Transport Environment shows that twice as much feedstock declared as Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is being used in #biofuels globally than can possibly exist.
