Back to the stunning Oysterbeds, one of my favourite @BirdAwareSolent winter sites. Now brimming with black-headed gull & common tern fledglings stretching their new wings from the safety of the RSPB rafts. These were Willow's first terns so she stayed #BirdAware on her lead 🐩🐣

It's the first round of the tournament, and we've got Dunlins and Curlews going head-to-head ⚽️

Swipe to find out who wins! And make your predications for our next round of Redshank vs Teal Duck.

Aye, thanks! Feels like the only time emails worked 🙂 got to meet FBC warden as well as BirdAware staff.

😂

Changing the subject completely... how do woodlice enter windowless bathrooms? I mean, get that the odd woodlice in bathrooms is a thing & they're great at climbing but... 🤨

Ooo, seeing that the BirdAware strategy has been updated to include breeding birds, I'll try again to mention beaches are used by post-breeding terns (& gulls, waders etc) in July onwards 🤞[5/5]

Nothing against the BirdAware staff - their small team do what they can - but disagree with decisions made higher up, like idea of maintaining current (high / v high) disturbance levels etc + ignoring terns once they've finished breeding even though they suffer too. 3/4

Not sure. This kept happening on the canal path so away from the coast and wasn't bird disturbance.

I've given them all my data from 2017 (ornithological watching briefs monitoring disturbance during seawall work).

BirdAware were doing short (2h) surveys to monitor disturbance...

That would be good. Something for BirdAware to champion?
