Migratory Bird Day - Some great birds showed up for roll call: Ecuadorian Thrush, Ecuadorian Trogon, Ringed AND Green Kingfishers(!), Swallow-tailed Kite However, the most interesting encounter was with a Yellow-crowned Night Heron. See next post.

Along a seldom-traveled road between rice fields, I first thought this bird was dead. But no, it seemed scared to move. A policeman 'authorized' me to cross the ditch!
Of note, a Striated Heron and Kingfisher watched, so at least the bird has witnesses to its story!
