Fantastic BirdTracking, Julian!
My 2024 in #BirdTrack numbers for #Wales (only seven other lists, all from Wirral and Shropshire).

More records, fewer species, but I've barely been out since the end of October!

#hamradio #antenna #birdtracking I spotted this yesterday near Clay Banks in Door Peninsula, WI. Not ham radio, but a station used to track migrating birds with transmitters on them.
Bird data on big antennas, then data sent on smaller antennas probably pointed at a cell tower. motus.org

Just back from a week in the Lake District, mostly walking & BirdTracking across the summits, plateaus & ridges of the fells. Species diversity poor on the high fells, with Raven often the only species seen. Valleys better, with Goosander, Grey Wagtail, common raptors, owls & winter thrushes etc

Our findings highlight the need for #birdtracking and monitoring outside breeding ranges, ideally supported by remote sensing based #land-use land cover change monitoring. This could help understand specific environmental change drivers of species decline across the entire migratory range.

Our ornithologists co-authored a new study using high-resolution tracking of fledged Yelkouans.

It uncovers fascinating insights into their post-fledging migration for the first time.
