Even my homelab data is backed up to a drive in the house and to Hetzner using Kopia with bitrot protection turned on and the backups are on an automated testing schedule to ensure validity. But I work in unstructured data management so maybe I'm paranoid.

The stick itself is also brand new, as in bought yesterday. Formatted as GPT when I installed Medicat. I have a crappy no-name 2GB stick I've had since middle school that is held together by tape that still works just fine (despite bitrot on the old files still on there which is understandable).
