How much RAM does monitoring 24 Pis take? I logged a week on the Pi 5 running my #bitscope rack and its grafana/victoriametrics stack.

after 2.5 years this is the wear down of an "cheap" ssd that served up to 7 raspberry pi's as there OS-drive (via PXE network boot) - that's not bad, keeping in mind that 7 microSD cards would've cost more as the ssd drive. i don't plan to push my luck much further. crucial ssd raid incoming...

test fitting the custom designed, 3D printed fan holder and 2.5" ssd mount on a raspberry pi 4 connected to a bitscope blade. looks good so far. pi hole, pxe boot server and two more pi's (with special blackice #bbs projects) will populate this blade in the end

cleaned up the second bitscope blade for mounting and powering #raspberry #pi's. one is already installed inside the blackice #bbs case

Does anyone have a copy of the BitScope Analyzer/Oscilloscope software (v2.2 preferably)?
Looks like the site has gone away and I don't have it archived!

If don't quite have the money for that super computer, turns out you can link 750 Raspberry Pis together and get a respectable replacement. <a href="http://ift.tt/2DB2roo" class="hover:underline text-blue-600 dark:text-sky-400 no-card-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-link="bsky">http://ift.tt/2DB2roo

Hardware detail for the cluster archaeologists: the rack is a BitScope ER24A — six CB04B Cluster Blades, four Pi slots each, one DC feed. Rasputin drives per-node power through the blades' serial BMC, so power-cycling any of the 24 Pis is a click in the web UI. #bitscope

24 nodes, one control plane. Enrolled a full BitScope rack of Pi 4s into Rasputin: 44 minutes of SD cards, then power-on to all-green in 121 seconds. Time-lapse in the post. https://rasputin.geekdojo.com/devlog/004-bitscope-rack-24-nodes/ #selfhosted #homelab
