Blinatumomab is one of the most precise immune‑engineering tools in modern oncology. It physically links T-cells to CD19+ leukemia cells to force targeted killing. I break down this mechanism as we enter Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

I am currently taking a drug called Blinatumomab (brand name Blincyto) for leukemia. This drug has been a major development in leukemia treatment because it's not as hard on the body as chemotherapy.

🧠 CNS prophylaxis remains essential in ALL, especially as therapy becomes chemo-attenuated or chemo-free. Blinatumomab/inotuzumab do not replace CNS-directed therapy. Modern regimens often use 12–15 IT treatments, tailored to regimen and risk. #ALL #Leukemia #Hematology

Actually blinatumomab is probably the bigger deal in ALL.

Commercial CART is $500k but lots of cell therapy labs are trying to develop their own in house CARs which could become much cheaper.

Among children with high-risk B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, two cycles of blinatumomab led to a higher 4-year event-free survival than two cycles of chemotherapy (83.0% vs. 70.3%), with a lower risk of serious infection. Full phase 3 AIEOP-BFM ALL 2017 trial results: https://nej.md/4dBfwOk

I once worked on a clinical trial looking at potential better treatments for pediatric leukemia. and one wing of the study was so effective they shut down the other wings of study because it unethical to keep them open when this one manner of treatment is provably badass.
