Marc Andreessen going all in on regulatory capture and it makes sense once you consider recent history.

A16Z has invested $7.6B into blockchain & web3 startups which have mostly turned out to be snake oil with many former high flyers since fallen down to earth (Axie Infinity, Dapper Labs, OpenSea).

Well-funded startups capture market share with subsidised products.

Big tech is a cluster of oligopolies and monopolies.

Internal software projects are driven by their potential effects on stock prices ("UGC! No, Web 2.0! No, blockchain! No, AI!")

Customer lock-in is a standard tactic

Do you remember when somebody audited a bunch of “put government on the blockchain!” “startups” and they were all just Excel

Und vom Rest werden dann neue Autobahnen und Atomkraftwerke gebaut. Wenn dann noch was übrig ist, geht das an Blockchain-, KI- und Flugtaxi-Startups.
