woo, my DSi WiFi driver got integrated into BlocksDS.

Or at least a heavily modified version of it, since BlocksDS actually finished the job of integrating tasking with lwip and matching dswifi's API

Have you found the examples bundled with devkitARM and/or BlocksDS to be insufficient? It might be worth opening an issue if you have any concerns over documentation or installation quality - the projects could always use more feedback. For BlocksDS:

@sterophonick ah

the original blogpost for blocksds mentions some stuff about devkitpro, but idk how much it applies to gba: https://www.skylyrac.net/2023-08-18-blocksds-sdk.html
BlocksDS SDK
A few months ago I created BlocksDS, a new SDK for Nintendo DS. It uses libnds, DS WiFI and Maxmod, so it is compatible with projects that use devkitARM. The toolchain it uses comes from Wonderful Toolchains by asie. Its main objective is to remain as compatible as possible with …

BlocksDS 1.6.1 has just been released, fixing a rare filesystem reading regression introduced in BlocksDS 0.11.0. It is highly recommended to update your homebrew, especially if it's heavy on file system operations.

I’ll check out blocksds, though i’ll probably need devkitpro anyway for the wii stuff T-T

Imagine if one day, decomps of retail NDS games could be built with something like BlocksDS

I am doing DS development because one of the maintainers showed me the BlocksDS toolchain which seems similar but better documented and cleaned up versus devkitPro's, and also has a really good tutorial guide that's exactly what I felt was missing

I'm reading about BlocksDS and some other NDS game development stuff and this is really cool and I wanna talk about it in detail, but I discovered very early on that any sort of code explanation regardless of complexity guarantees a loss of viewers, though I'd also like to just not care

NitroSwan updated to v0.7.7

V0.7.7 Not much new in this release, changed from devkitARM to BlocksDS and found a couple of small bugs. Fixed sound button behaviour on HW. Ported from devkitARM to BlocksDS, smaller binary.

Indeed, both devkit pro or blocksds or even that new and early in development zig alternative someone made are kinda tricky to setup, the zig one I just couldn't get to work no matter how hard I tried, devkitpro and blocksds can be a pain to install in their own right, let alone compiling your code.

Oh yeah, BlocksDS has APIs to use DS+DSi devkit RAM configs so my allocator sucks up as much memory as it can find available

Yeah it's DLDI/SDMMC, BlocksDS has the nice read-ahead cache which helps a lot but I do have to be ~smart about avoiding it as much as possible. I'll probably add some eager asset caching where it reads one material a frame or something, most materials are only like ~60KiB at worst.

Oh right btw, that whole devkitpro thing I started looking into it again and it seems like there's some kind of big update which made all the old tutorials obsolete in 2025 and apparently there's something else about it which makes it unstable so... I'm using BlocksDS instead! Hopefully I'll lock in
