Der Sportplatz der Uni war heute früh geschlossen (Wochenende? Zu früh?), aber mein Bodaboda-Fahrer kannte den anderen.
Kurz wieder Hemmungen, weil da viele Sportler waren.
Aber ein Fußballer lief seine Aufwärmrunden mit mir und klatschte mich am Ende ab 🙏😊

Der Sportplatz der Uni war heute früh geschlossen (Wochenende? Zu früh?), aber mein Bodaboda-Fahrer kannte den anderen.
Kurz wieder Hemmungen, weil da viele Sportler waren.
Aber ein Fußballer lief seine Aufwärmrunden mit mir und klatschte mich am Ende ab 🙏😊

Noch bevor ich es vorgeschlagen habe, hatte er bereits entschieden, dass ich eben einfach bei der Rückfahrt zahle.

Finde es immer wieder krass, wie viel hier auf Vertrauen basiert.
Mein hiesiger Bodaboda-Fahrer hatte kein Wechselgeld für meine Fahrt in die Stadt.
Noch bevor ich es vorgeschlagen habe, hatte er bereits entschieden, dass ich eben einfach bei der Rückfahrt zahle.

Habe mich aufgerafft und wurde mit Eis belohnt 🥳

Als der Bodaboda-Fahrer mich am Restaurant absetzte, fragte er mich, ob ich hier schon mal gewesen sei, und ich verneinte.
Aber doch.
Ich habe es wiedererkannt.

Direkt nach Abfahrt erschien mir die Richtung seltsam, aber ich kenne mich ja nicht aus.
Der Weg bergauf war viel steiler als gestern Abend/heute Mittag.

Même au bout de 6 ans et demi, et mes enfants prenant maintenant leur vélo, ce fidèle destrier est toujours bien utile 💪🏼. C'aurait été bien bête et dommage de prendre la voiture juste pour rejoindre un covoitureur à 6h du mat' 😉 sur un parking situé à 4km, pour faire une sortie ski de rando

Three times our taxi vehicle was unable to get us to the village schools we were going to. Twice we had to do the remaining km on foot, the other we had to transfer to a bodaboda (motorbike taxi) for the final few km. We managed though, and the visit was largely successful.

Fuel prices in Kenya are once again becoming a major concern for households, businesses, and especially bodaboda riders who rely on motorcycles for daily income. With petrol and diesel costs climbing sharply, and recent pressure from transport operators even forcing government intervention on fuel pricing, many riders are finding it increasingly difficult to sustain operations using traditional petrol-powered motorcycles. But amid the rising costs and recurring fuel uncertainty, electric motorcycles are quietly emerging as one of Kenya’s most practical transport alternatives. A recent report by Deutsche Welle (DW) highlighted how Nairobi is increasingly turning away from petrol-powered bikes and toward electric alternatives powered by locally generated electricity.
