Brightline has to pay off the cost of track construction. Airlines don't pay for airport construction. Flixbus/Greyhound, Peter Pan, Boltbus, etc., don't pay for highway construction. We'll never have good passenger rail until Congress stops this double standard. Federal passenger rail reform now!

Was on the same BoltBus (NY to Baltimore) as John Waters. He was totally normal, except that as he got off the bus upon arrival, he turned to the driver and said in a serpentine/seductive/monotone/evil voice "You're a very good driver", then left

Really? Maybe I’ve just lost touch because I’ve aged out of taking intercity buses on the regular but I feel all the major players like BoltBus and Megabus are either gone or shadows of their former selves.

I once overloaded the outlets on a BoltBus to Boston playing Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U Gamepad with the console plugged in

I’d do either something like Boltbus or Amtrak if you can. Greyhound stations can be kind of scary.

Also, a now-defunct American coach company called BoltBus used a similar logo.

For awhile, Greyhound was competing with itself through a subsidiary, BoltBus.

Haha it's funny because Fung Was really paved the way for better Greyhound and Megabus and Boltbus (RIP) with cheap bus service up and down 95.

I remember taking Greyhound once from Delaware to NYC and it was horrific.

This is how I learned BoltBus was out of the league. Rest in peace to an affordable legend
It used to be real easy when BoltBus was in business.

I do wonder if my mum was aware of this side of DB... (she was a big fan and I can recall her devastation when he died)

Also, reading all this Bowie/lighting bolt discourse randomly reminded me of BoltBus.

EVEN THE COLOUR SCHEME IS THE SAME AS THE BUF.

ahh, good old days. I spent so many years riding that boston-NYC-philly corridor on some combination of fung wah / megabus / boltbus.

I remember back in my blogging days when I’d take BoltBus everywhere and the big selling point were electrical outlets everywhere so you could charge your portable electronic devices… like your iPod, iPad, or your iPhone and working WiFi so the proto influencers could inform real time social media

for Dragula live i'm doing Boltbus + the Moore hotel for less than $200 total. Seattle is so cheap off-season

i also rode BoltBus (back when they were in service) between Greenbelt and and NYC (and vice versa) a bunch of times. nothing to report there – as it should be.

several years ago i realized that something had gone Very Wrong when i opened a bag of black licorice on a boltbus and was terrified that someone on the bus might Post about it

If Greyhound leaves from Port Authority, you usually have to go allllll the way down to the lowest level for those buses. Boltbus has a couple of pickup spots but not in stations I don’t think. You might be able to get discounted disability Amtrak tickets to help offset the cost.
