Amazing day in Cincinnati talking to readers and meeting other authorsand illustrator! Thank you Books By the Banks! #Cincy #bookfests

Excited to be talking ‘Connecting Scotland’s History’ at the most luxy of bookfests @bozzybookfest.bsky.social on Sunday 10 May. Thank you for having me!

Make comics part of everyday reading as Japan does. Comics as cookbooks, textbooks, newspapers, interest mags, celebrity gossip, education, EVERYTHING!

Also treat them as the same as books in shops, bookfests & reviews. Literacy Trust proved comics aid reading in kids there’s no excuse.

See CCIC…

Have you ever been invited to Harrogate? I have a THEORY that no-one has ever been invited to both Harrogate AND Edinburgh bookfests, it's against the laws of the universe. (If this is easily disproved I will be upset tho)

Thanks to Ashley Aya Ferguson for coordinating our panel at Books by the Banks this weekend in Cincinnati. Loved meeting and sharing stories with Mary Kay Carson, @tanyakonerman.bsky.social and Kristy High. Great festival. ❤️

Academic texts are by far the best finds at these bookfests. Textbooks are way out of date and fiction is cheap and easy to find ebooks for. Old research though is a goldmine.

Absolutely! And to think of it, so much of Bengali media from Tagore to Sunil Ganguly can be brushed off as Eurocentric.

Especially Kolkata has eurocentricism baked into it with our bookfests and film-fests.

Should we villify the said Eurocentricism and love for french cinema, or own it up?

2025 was terrific! I appeared at 4 bookfests, 3 cons (with fun cosplay), 2 bookstore events, 1 podcast, presented 2 workshops at the Pennwriters conference, appeared on TV with Good Day PA, had a new book announcement for 2026, and released LEE & ME & A CHRISTMAS TREE. Here's to next year!

2025 was one hell of a year! I managed three new book releases, nine book signings/bookfests, three cons (with a whole lot of fun cosplay), two bookstore events, one writing conference, and somehow retained a small portion of my sanity. I have lots more coming in 2026 - stay tuned!

During the past year, several new author fairs and bookfests have sprung up in the Pacific Northwest. Here's another one that will be at the Warner Grange in Canby, Oregon, on Saturday-Sunday, April 12-13. I will be there. If you're around, stop by and check out the books available by local authors.

cc: @foomeister! MT @rezaaslan Hey New Zealand/Australia! I'm coming down under to see you. Catch me at Auckland &Sydney bookfests May 12-25

Just keep away from charity bookfests where books are $1 each or better yet get a trunk to hold them all.

We heard from teachers and academics about previous Bookfests - how writing has improved in schools that take part - boosting both reading & writing for pleasure.
