Kept this up for the entire year but I underestimated how big the booksnake would be. Has to be nearly 3 metres

I second this - Booksnake is amazing. It's a fantastic example of the truly amazing outcomes from @neh-odh.bsky.social grants.

As a result of working on my booksnake, I am more aware of when I cluster books of my comfort genres. I was liking the more random patterning and I don't want too many big chunks so I had to force myself to make other choices. It's going to be an interesting result regardless

Making a start on this booksnake whose stripes will record the books I read during 2025. I never fancied the temperature blankets but this is a knitting data visualisation I am very into 🐍🧶

Trying this #booksnake for 2025 - unfortunately I am bad at crocheting because I’m more of an “eyeball it” girl than a “count your stitches” girl ✨

Booksnake progress.
I held the yarn together with gold thread if I particularly enjoyed the book. Jan golden books:
Louise Erdrich - The Sentence
Noah Angell - Ghosts of the British Museum
Tan Twan Eng - House of Doors
Kevin Barry - The Heart in Winter
Emeric Pressburger - The Glass Pearls

half the time she acts like That Bitch, other half shes a shy booksnake

hates being called bookworm, cuz "thats not what she is!!!"

has a ballooning venom that can cause even inanimate objects to swell and balloon with air

paired with a tendency to bite on things when shes thinking or anxious

2025 #booksnake progress! They still need a name, though. I think I want to embroider on nostrils... #booksky #knitsky

My knitted book socks are finished!

This year I was inspired to combine my love of reading and knitting into a longer project, the 2025 book socks inspired by bookaroundfindout's booksnake. I wanted to track my reading by knitting stripes in some socks!

I just discovered an error in Cuthbert...a book that somehow I didn't get on my list so it didn't get knit. And of course it's about 10+ books back that I need to undo! 🫣😩

I did some tinking (iykyk) I HATED the light pink and ended up switching it out for a varigated color. I also went through WAAAY too much effort for one book that was equally history and science. Usually I can decide which genre it fits better if it has multiple labels. Not here #booksky #booksnake

Digitization captures how an object looks, not how it behaves. Booksnake is computational virtual media remediation. We ask, for each historical media form (map, newspaper, codex): What does this object do that its digital image cannot? The tools we build are the arguments. Learn more: booksnake.app

Check out Cuthbert! The speed of his growth is due to audiobooks, but I am able to engage with a wider variety of content this way. I bet that all my nonfiction will be audio! Not loving the color of the latest stripe but I was determined to use yarn from around the house. #booksky #booksnake

My first entry! Technically I'm not finished reading, I have 15 hours left for Sanderson's Wind and Truth. I mostly ready mostly Science Fiction and Fantasy, so my genre list takes that into account. And some books, are both!

Booksnake is an argument dressed as software. A critique of image viewers that display everything at arbitrary scale. Our goal: connect the scale of the encounter with the scale of the archive. Read more in Digital Humanities Quarterly 19.1 (Winter 2025): dhq.digitalhumanities.org/vol/19/1/000...

Reading a mystery, listening to a mystery. I guess I know what color my next stripe will be. Well... not the very next as I have some catching up to do- but Cuthbert is looking fine.
