Dungeness: After several days of intense sea watching, I spent today around the reserve. A Temminck's Stint on Boulderwall but very distant was probably the highlight, first Glossy Ibis and Wood Sandpiper of the year on the peninsula, good to see Lapwings doing well on Boulderwall.

A windswept Great White Egret Ardea alba at the new diggings at Boulderwall at #RSPBDungeness at the weekend. A frequent visitor but surely it is just a matter of time before it becomes a resident breeder.

Dungeness: Watching 2 Cattle Egrets at Boulderwall Farm fighting over a Newt, got me wondering what impact all the Egrets are having on invertebrate, amphibian and small mammal populations.

Back to Dungeness for the afternoon. Drake Garganey at ARC Pit from Hanson Hide, 3 Temminck’s Stints, 1 Wood Sandpiper & 1 Ruff at Cooks Pool/Boulderwall and a passage of summer plumaged waders past the seawatch hide (Grey Plovers, Sanderlings, Turnstones & Knot).

Despite drizzle & strong winds at Dungeness today a few summer migrants were seen: our first Wheatear (male) & Sandwich Terns of the yr. Adult Yellow-legged Gull from the RSPB visitor centre, the family of 3 Whooper Swans at Dengemarsh & 2 LRPs, 2 Ringed Plovers & 2 Dunlin on the Boulderwall Wetland
We saw the Peregrine there earlier ,sunning itself at the top of a pylon ,2-3 Cattle Egret near Cockles +Great White ..ARC. + A Marsh Harrier swoop twice at a swimming Coot ,behind Boulderwall.

Before Scrub clearing at Dungeness this morning ,stopped at Boulderwall farm fields briefly to try for the Pink footed Geese that have been reported ."Bogey" birds for me ,but eventually found 6 amongst the Grey Lags ,also pres; A Great White Egret +2 Cattle Egret at Cockles br; later a Raven over.
