Shrimp Plant (Justicia brandegeeana).
Justicia brandegeeana (Red Shrimp):
Perennial shrub with red inflorescences that attract hummingbirds and butterflies.
It's a pity that at the time of the photo there were no butterflies or hummingbirds.

Went up to Krohn Conservatory over the weekend. None of the specimens are what you'd call astoundingly exotic, but are expertly taken care of and presented in a very naturallistic layout.

Last year it was bat-faced cuphea, this year it's a shrimp plant.
I don't know why a plant would want to look like a shrimp, but it certainly does.

I have a sentimental attachment to the plant because my grandmother had a small lovely version in a planter on the front step of her old South Carolina home. She called it a “shrimp plant”. I thought maybe she had made up the name. Nope.
