Luckily, that was exactly when mini seneschal Bran knocked on the door, and only that stopped Branwyn from snapping at Leandra. "Impeccable timing," she mumbled under her breath, and bid mother goodbye. And now, she was sitting here, across the table from the guy. Out of her depth and feeling far too vulnerable. This has to be one of my worst nightmares that I can't wake up from, she thought as she watched the boy lift the glass of wine and almost spilling it all over the table. Truly, one for the top ten list.

Mother had guests over. Branwyn closed the door behind her with a quiet groan. From here, she could not discern who Leandra was talking to, but curiously, it was a male voice answering her, followed by laughter that undoubtedly also belonged to a man. Two men in the house? Phew, Maker. No one since father died and now she would bring two home? Well, why not. Maybe jumping back into the relationship game with all the thrills of it would make the air more breathable again. "Branwyn dear, is that you?" "Yes, mother," she replied. "I'm home, I'm going to take a bath and —" "Can you come join us for just a moment, please?"

"Unconsolable" is an understatement and you know I'm no good at dealing with our mother when she's like that. I hate you. Rude. Who am I to scold you for being blunt, but dammit, Carver, she was a sobbing, crying, broken mess already when I found her holding the envelope, she was too scared to open it and learn the truth about you. When you mentioned dying in the Deep Roads in the future, I swear she took it even worse. So, again: Do not fucking die, ever. Forbidden. I don't care what it would take, just don't.

It's a branfic weekend though so I'll try to get a chapter out as per usual. My other goal is to play through the Citadel dlc yay and pull myself together enough to briefly visit our town festival and get some mead and drool over medieval costumes wait did I say that out loud

Her hand slid off the doorknob. "I am. I'm meeting with my friends, who were also Carver's friends. You could say we're going to celebrate him in our own way." "If you really want to put 'we are going to drink until we black out' like that," mother shrugged. Branwyn sighed and bit her lip. Don't fight. Don't react. Don't do anything. You don't want to fight. "Better than drinking myself to a blackout in my own room alone, isn't it."

At this point of the branfic (at least what I am writing currently) it's basically the final countdown to the first kiss

I hope we'll get there soon, I'm dying to write it already but I don't wanna write ahead and then glue the scenes together.
