Thinking particularly about the history of wheat agriculture in Europe, which is defined by successive waves of adopting different wheat subspecies and cultivars after they were developed in the Middle East, lol

First Einkorn, then Emmer and Spelt, then Durum and Breadwheat...
They didn't even make their own cultivars of crops, really, until recently, they just imported newer cultivars from the Middle East to replace older ones

Also I like to imagine "elven wheat" might be a bit more like durum than breadwheat, if only because high elves eating couscous seems fitting
