I don't take moral advice from people who take bribes and their mistress to London.

That’s how bribes work.

A white kid shoots up a school. A white man shoots a conservative commentator. A white billionaire runs a child trafficking ring with a white heiress. A white senator takes bribes. But according to the conservative narrative, America is being ruined by brown people and Muslims. Make it make sense.

I wish Douthat had brought up the actual manner of Saudi influence: bribes to the president and his family

They did budget $500k for this position. But it also has to cover benefits and retirement and bribes.
I love academic budgeting. Meanwhile, let’s hire a VP of AI at $450k because future proofing or something.

James Talarico on Ken Paxton: "He was impeached by his own party for taking bribes from wealthy donors, all while he blocked our overtime pay and gutted our healthcare. This is the rot at the core of this broken system."

I remember when taking bribes was illegal.

Selling pardons for money as well.

And of course raping children.

I’m sure that’s illegal as well. Unless of course it’s documented in the Epstein Files.

That actually scares me that they believe his bribes. They won’t see a penny of it ever.

After 2024, not only did Republicans claim a sweeping mandate, a wide swath of elites rushed to treat a narrow win as a binding cultural referendum. Business leaders gave bribes, media orgs paid him over frivolous lawsuits, figures like Ezra Klein proclaimed a "vibe shift," Columbia, law firms, etc.
My other takeaway from this story is the degree to which Republicans wildly exaggerated their 2024 victory. All winning parties do this, but the degree to which the GOP reframed a narrow victory as a Reagan or FDR-like tectonic shift is remarkable.
Just brutal numbers and vibes for Republicans in this Politico story. www.politico.com/news/2026/11...

Not my first choice but about 117x more workable than anything the ME czar Kushner has come up with. There is one crucial mistake tho. You forgot the bribes for Trump clan. Always include bribes for them!

In 1953 the CIA, with Britain’s MI6, led Operation Ajax to oust Iran’s PM Mosaddegh after he nationalized oil. It funded unrest, propaganda and bribes, and got the Shah to name Gen. Zahedi PM, restoring the Shah’s power. The CIA admitted its role in 2013.
