Finished another piece that should bring you some nice solitude. I like that the dovecote made a return, and of course the sunflowers, as well as the direction of the brushstrokes on the hill, which I paid particular attention to.

When I'm working on a reproduction, I try to stay as faithful to the original as possible. When it comes to Monet, with so many visible brushstrokes, that's a monumental task. I identify key strokes in the composition and use those as reference points to navigate the painting.

Klee produced this piece during his final, extraordinarily prolific year of life while living in exile in Bern, Switzerland, following his dismissal from Germany by the Nazi regime. Confronting severe illness (scleroderma), Klee altered his technique to accommodate his stiffening hands by working on a larger scale with heavy, simplified brushstrokes. La belle jardinière is defined by a matrix of thick, bold black lines juxtaposed with a blend of earthy tones and vibrant color patches. The abstract and geometric forms puzzle together to trace the silhouette of a human figure intertwined with organic motifs, conveying a sense of movement, growth, and structured natural design.
