'10s were an awful, mediocre decade for Anglo-American pop, fabulous decade for budots, favela funk. Pretty good for Romanian, Kosovar dance pop. First half great for K-pop; second half great for gqom. Don't have a handle on its what and when, but Soundcloud rap was a thing.

So convos matter, but they always did.
A lot of the music I like now, like favela funk and budots, does tend not to rely on choruses or even song form, and I do notice even supposedly song-heavy forms like budots shunning definitive choruses, but I don't see this shunning as *text*-driven.
