Our picture shows a bright, sunny street scene in Carlow, Ireland, dominated by a traditional three storey terraced building painted a vivid mustard yellow. The building has a long, slate covered pitched roof and a prominent chimney near the centre. Its rough textured yellow exterior contrasts strongly with dark blue green window frames and matching trim along the lower part of the façade. Three rows of tall rectangular windows run across the building, many with white curtains visible inside. At street level, a dark green front door sits beneath an attractive arched stone doorway. Beside the entrance is a small wall plaque. Several windows display signs suggesting that the building contains professional offices. In front of the building stands a traditional black street lamp with a large hanging basket overflowing with colourful pink, purple and red flowers. To the right, a small leafy tree provides some shade over the pavement and lower windows. The neighbouring building is painted dark grey, providing a sharp contrast with the yellow façade. A narrow pavement runs along the front, bordered by a double yellow road marking. Strong sunlight creates crisp shadows beneath the flower basket, tree and building. Above everything is a striking, almost cloudless deep-blue Irish summer sky, making the colourful yellow building and flowers particularly vibrant. Overall, the image captures the cheerful character of a traditional Carlow streetscape, combining historic architecture, colourful façades and seasonal flowers. Finally today, our picture is finished with a simple white border frame.

Not a lot of #smooth things in my photo library, but I did find this very reflective smooth sculpture from one of my walks earlier this year.

Technically this could be considered a self-portrait as I'm somewhere on that pedestrian bridge in the reflection. 😀
