#BusNews: Tranzit Group has officially opened their purpose-built electric bus depot at Spedding Industrial in Whenuapai.

The depot supports 46 electric buses, with parking for up to 80 vehicles and 1,900kW of charging capacity.

#BusNews: From October 1, NZTA has introduced new rules that require road users to give way to buses leaving bus stops.

On roads with a 60km/h or lower speed limit, if bus drivers are leaving a bus stop, the side of the road or moving out of a bus lane, other drivers must give way to the bus.

#BusNews: The Main St Bus Hub in Palmerston North has reopened.

From October 2, buses will be returning to their orignial stops under the main terminal structure.

Buses will no longer be departing from the square.

#BusNews: NZ Transit Buzz can confirm all 5 electric articulated buses for use on Route 2 in Wellington have arrived in New Zealand.

The buses are presently in Auckland being prepared for service before being driven to Wellington and delivered to Kinetic’s Karori Depot.

#BusNews: @AklTransport has confirmed that another 14 bike racks will be installed inside double-decker buses on the NX1 route over a 4-6-week period in during May and June 2025 as phase 2 of a bikes on buses trail.

Phase 2 of the trial will run for at least a year.

#BusNews: Orbus Dunedin & Queenstown have installed new eInk real-time solar-powered displays at different city stops.

Queenstown has received 10 displays with Dunedin receiving 40.

The data is updated every 30 seconds and has audio buttons for blind/low-vision bus users.

Dunedin saw 345,035 trips with May being the busiest moth, Queenstown saw 103,311 trips with January being the busiest month.

The bus is a Yutong D7 which is due due to start service on October 1, the bus will run daily connecting Lake Tekapo, Fairlie, Geraldine, Ashburton and Christchurch Airport.
