#bushmeat
I understand the impulse to send them back and "free" them, but they'd just become bushmeat. My dream is to evacuate one of the Hawaiian islands like Molokai and turn it into a Great Ape sanctuary.

Native to the riverine forests of northwestern Madagascar and adaptable to many habitats. Infants are the same color as Mom and are camouflaged in her coat; males turn black after 5-6 weeks. Threatened by habitat fragmentation and loss, bushmeat hunting, and the illegal pet trade.

Milne-Edwards' sifakas live in female-dominated troops. They can live up to 20 years in the wild, but only 50% survive beyond year one. Compounding their high infant mortality rates, they are threatened by habitat destruction and bushmeat hunting. Learn more: neprimateconservancy.org/milne-edward...

so this mentally unsound white from Utah (Amanda Price) is protecting animals infected with a lethal-to-human virus that are overrunning a factory farm operation because the Communist elites need fur coats

Something something wet market bushmeat conspiracy plandemic, right? That’s how it works?

I once ate some bushmeat, and got a big stuck between my teeth. When I extracted it, it wasn't spinach, it was a 5 foot elephant tusk.

From my own notes tagged #plotbunnies; you get 2 spooky ones because tis the season or whatever:

-widow orders mail order bride, ends up with a dangerous shapeshifting mythical creature for a wife

-hunting cryptids as bushmeat is a dangerous business but it probably pays well

Anthropomorphic literally! vs the opposite for me.

Do you think many non-scientists know that bushmeat is not a good idea for other reasons?
Yep meanwhile every person I meet, ever, assumes I am eating crustaceans and even that it's the reason I study them.

No eating metazoa for 30 years. I am the person they thought Jess would be! But my animal isn't "worthy" in their eyes 🫠
