'Beach.' (c1928) Kenneth Macqueen developed a watercolour technique early in his artistic career that captures the freshness and spontaneity of a seascape. He sketched first, then made his pictures in the studio; the result, a simplified and reconfigured picture.

Typical of Max Liebermann's late Impressionistic style (c1928) the lapping waves and almost abstract horizon are suggested by specks of blue, orange, and cream pigment while the splashing figures are rendered with thick impasto that make them resemble sculptures in low-relief.

'Mother and Florence.' (c1928) Largely self-taught as an artist, Victor Pasmore was a key figure in British art. He exhibited with the London Group from 1931, and it was around then that he first flirted with abstraction though he destroyed this work and gained recognition as a realist painter.

So, there's a weird DH Lawrence poem called "Dandelions", where a guy wees on some dandelions 🤨. DHL made the weird poem into a weird painting in c1928. Now that's been turned into a weird ceramic, called "Dandelions" by Simon Bayliss (2021), at Manchester Art Gallery. Weird. 👍🏛️🍑 #MuseumBums
