During its patrol earlier today, an Irish Air Corps C295 maritime surveillance aircraft (Reg: 284) appeared to take a look at the vessel "Optima" on its way to St. Petersburg from Aughinish.

Didn't see rescue helis. Nothing on AIS.
HMS Somerset had been in Dublin & this region north of Donegal is a submarine training area.
Air Corps C295 MSA's don't have sonobuoys yet (afaik!)
They do have Leica Chiroptera 4X bathymetric lidar?!
