Given that this is a 1960s single story home wearing a 2-story 2008 home costume, remodeled and expanded by a rather wayward cabinetmaker and DIYer, anything is possible.

We haven't had any big infrastructure problems until the last 4-5 months... Lived here almost 7 years.

Invented by English cabinetmaker Robert Jupe and patented in 1835, the Jupe expanding table transforms with a clever mechanical design. A modern version sells for around $10,000.

14 September 1804: Jane Austen writes to her sister from Pyne House, her family's lodgings in Lyme Regis, that they had called in a local cabinetmaker about a repair to a piece of furniture and were shocked that it would cost 5 shillings. This cabinetmaker was Richard Anning, Mary Anning's father.

I love everything Ford has been in.
As a cabinetmaker, I’m intrigued by his woodworking- any images of what he’s built?

#QueerCharChat Day 9 - Rowan

each other when one of us is running things.

If I get frustrated I picture calling my brother and telling him I need his help. Steel's a carpenter and really skilled cabinetmaker. He'd laugh at me, help, then tell me off for not letting him make something better.

In the late 1850s; Day declared bankruptcy and his shop was placed in trust with a business partner. After Day's death, his son Thomas Day Jr. bought the workshop back and kept it running for another decade; the Union Tavern workshop closed for good in 1871.

Fun fact I learned while researching this piece: in the 1960s, a cabinetmaker created and sold a replica chair. The Hundevad version of the Guldhøj chair now goes for about $3,000 used. Which is way more than its IKEA-sounding name suggests. 😆
The Guldhøj Stool by Hundevad ⋆ Copenhagen Architecture
The Guldhøj Stool is a slightly redesigned version of a Bronze Age folding stool, that dates around 1400 B.C. It was redesigned in 1960 by Poul Hundevad.

Grandpa used to tell me, “When one door closes, another one opens.”

He was a great man but a horrible cabinetmaker.

I get it. I’ve found a little ingenuity can make beautiful design surprisingly affordable. For instance, that coffee table could easily be recreated by a good carpenter/cabinetmaker using a nice door panel cut to size, with side panels & the feet added for $400–$500 rather that several thousands. 😊

My years as a soldier and cabinetmaker have given me unique insights…😜 Sorry, sorry. I’ll go away now.

This is the interior of "Bouillon Julien", a brasserie-type restaurant in Paris. Opened as "Gandon-Fournier" in 1903, the interior was built in an Art Nouveau style by Louis Trézel, Armand Ségau and Hippolyte Boulenger, it still has its original decor. It was classified a Historical Monument in 1997

That’s such a tender memory. ❤️🎸

I can almost imagine the shift in him when he started playing. The cabinetmaker part of him probably knew exactly what his hands were doing, but the guitarist part got to play. And then having you there gave him an audience he actually cared about.

Okay, your dad is collecting craftsmanship skill trees at this point. 😂🎸🪵

Cabinetmaker + guitarist + Libra Sun + Aquarius Moon + “one of these days” guy? That is an extremely specific character build.

Mostly unrelated, but my brother works as a cabinetmaker and does a lot of nursing homes and the code to the doors there is always 12345. Just in case you’re wrongly kept in one.
