395.00 USD Serendipitytreasure present Striking vintage Miriam Haskell statement earrings featuring oversized mottled Bakelite cabochons surrounded by sparkling clear rhinestones and elaborate dimensional gold-tone metalwork. Dating to approximately the 1950s, these earrings were produced during the era when Frank Hess served as Miriam Haskell's principal designer. While this exact design has not been documented as a specific Frank Hess design, the signed clip construction, materials and workmanship are consistent with Haskell jewelry from the Hess era. The large domed center cabochons have been tested and identified as Bakelite. They display beautiful mottled cognac, amber, reddish-brown and deeper brown coloration, giving each cabochon wonderful depth and variation. Surrounding each Bakelite center is an unusual openwork arrangement of clear rhinestones. Textured gold-tone spokes radiate outward from the center and form dimensional scalloped or petal-like sections around the perimeter. The result is an exceptionally dramatic design with considerable depth—the earrings stand approximately 1/2 inch high. The clip backs are signed MIRIAM HASKELL. Diameter is 1 3/4 inch height is 1/2 inch weight is 25 grams for both ery good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and patina. The large Bakelite cabochons appear intact, and the elaborate dimensional settings remain attractive.
