A 24-foot trailer containing essential supplies for Camp Agape California’s summer program was stolen from a parking lot in Anaheim, disrupting preparations for the September camp. The nonprofit, which provides free four-day camping trips for children of incarcerated parents, forgives the thieves and is raising funds on GoFundMe to replace the stolen items. Despite the loss, organizers remain committed to their mission of supporting prison families by creating spaces where children can heal, practice forgiveness, and build healthier lives. Elizabeth Vallejo, co-founder of the camp, described the theft as a deeply emotional setback, recalling personal struggles with grief and resilience. The camp aims to reduce risks of mental health issues, antisocial behaviors, and involvement in the criminal justice system for children affected by parental incarceration. Volunteers and donors are rallying to ensure the camp proceeds, emphasizing the importance of community support and faith-based initiatives in addressing systemic challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
