Working on a project.
I’m pretty positive it’s a Carolina Mantis; almost certain it’s not a Budwing.

Carolina Mantis Ootheca! I’ve been moving rocks into the area that was previously a liriope (🙄) border. I made sure to tuck this rock in so the mantises are safe for the winter. #carolinamantis #nativespecies #invasiveremoval

#botober day 14: Womp Mittens. The young bugs had been warned not to scurry through Old Carol Mantid's yard, but young bugs rarely listen.

A digital illustration of a Carolina mantis with a missing antenna, rough looking wings, and a missing leg. She is waving her legs and yelling, where ya going sonny? come back and meet my womp mittens! from off panel, her grandkid says, c'mon gram, your soup's getting cold.

Females reach and average size of 60mm ( 2.4in ), while males average around 54mm ( 2.1in ). I’m not sure if this one was male or female, as you can tell by its size, compared to my finger; it’s still a juvenile.

Found a lovely Carolina mantis (Stagmomantis carolina) hanging out on my mom’s door; I migrated her to a fig tree. She cleaned herself on my hand! Her short wings reveal her sex; males have longer, flying wings.

Nobody looks twice at a Carolina Mantis, and that is the mistake

It can turn its head almost all the way around and strikes at prey faster than the eye can follow.

An adult praying mantis, probably Carolina sp., is shown hanging upside-down from a crepe myrtle branch. She is pale green. The tips of her wings, which do not extend to the full length of her abdomen, are a paler green.
