Catblade Archives - The Rats
#Art #OC #Catblade #CatbladeArchives
The rats. Always listen to the rats. These aren’t ordinary rodents, of course, they’re like Cheese. Some of them were in the same facility, others came from different madmen doing similar barbaric experiments. These guys… They can be a headache sometimes, but their information is worth so much I cannot quantify it. Don’t let the little bozos know, however. It can get to their heads quick. No one knows how many of these rodents are scurrying across the city, nor how far their influence extends. While they don’t actively try to be a surveillance system, they see things, they hear things. Sometimes eat things they really shouldn’t. I usually schedule meetings with them at least twice a month to hear what’s been happening. It’s led to plenty of profitable jobs. They’re curious by nature, and got a good nose for the paranormal. Be sure to have some cheese, cigs, or booze for them. They don’t do the informant thing out of the goodness of their tiny hearts. Big fans of the subway, late night strolls at parks, and diving into famous restaurant’s trash cans for a quick snack. I could list names, but there’s no point. I don’t know how many of them there are—it feels like there’s a new one in town every week. They have a strange social hierarchy I haven’t deciphered yet, and neither has the doc. Don’t bother. Just give ‘em some cheese and listen to their info.

Catblade Archives - Case of Neon Rain
#art #OC #catblade #catbladeArchives
A crow in grey cloaks to protect themselves from green neon rain. Kenichi stands out in a green cloak, half his face masked Neon rain. A strange Martian phenomenon. I was hired as a bodyguard for that job, escorting five top scientists and a couple of journalists from across our planet while they investigated the Martian occurrence. I think the government was involved, too. Or a couple of them. Big deal, the whole thing. Five other fools signed up as bodyguards, but most we did was stand around and wait. Finished five books on my phone, and even downloaded one of those asset flip games to mindlessly pass time. Turns out it was a bunch of factories oozing chemical garbage into the environment. Martian authorities shoved the environmentalist group’s opinion deep into their asses, as they often do, and the whole thing was over. Good money, but it left me feeling itching for action. Too bad I didn’t get to cut a Martian politician in half. I’ve been dreaming of it for a while, and everyone knows they deserve it. To this day, neon rain haunts Mars, both above and under the ground, and on its cursed moons. We know it messes people up, but no one does a thing. Because profits. Moving the factories or regulating the chems would be far too expensive, they say.

Catblade Archives - Case of the Elephant Goddess of Rot
#art #OC #catblade #catbladeArchives
Kenichi waits against a wall with gun in hand, watching a person dressed like an elephant lurking, depositing toxic fumes out of the trunk, with wide white eyes shining in the darkness. She went mad. But somewhat justified, in my opinion. Maria Valcom was a brilliant scientist, a pioneer in every field she got her hands on, but her talents as a chemist outshone the brightest jewel. She developed a powerful hazardous substance—the specifics elude me—with a dreadful future. But as usual, she was betrayed by greedy execs desperate to make a dime. They tried to steal her formula to militarize it, but she refused, until she was fired and blacklisted, deemed “too dangerous” to step into a laboratory again unless she complied. Harassment and threats followed, until she lost everything. They tried to steal her work again and again, going so far as to break into her apartment and destroy it searching for a hint of the formula. Understandably, she snapped, donned a mask and spread her gas around company grounds. Not the end of the story, however, as the gas got to her, and she lost her mind, wandering around town spreading her substance, her body moving on its own. Took me a while to hunt her down, and despite my every attempt to stop her alive, there wasn’t much inside the suit in the first place. When her rampage stopped, and we managed to take her mask off, we found a half-decomposing body connected by strands of an unpleasant green stuff with a strange volition of its own and a penchant for destruction. Whatever she cooked in that laboratory is better buried with her.

Catblade Archives- Case of Technimarcus
#art #OC #catblade #catbladeArchives
a grotesque green man with an extra arm and several extra eyes melting, a victim of his hubris Technimarcus Merriot was a strange man. Obsessed with longevity and birth rates, claiming the “light of human consciousness” had to be protected at all costs. Heir to a bunch of Martian companies, mostly terrible, exploitative mines, he used most of his fortune to buy bioresearch and pharma companies. Despite not being qualified, he insisted on participating in various projects, often submitting himself as a test subject. Along the businesses, he inherited the strange obsession from his father, a rather nasty politician shunned by the majority of Earthlings. Rumor is Merriot was scared of a disease, or had already contracted it, and forced a bunch of research to be fast-tracked. In his desperate bid for eternity (just like a certain someone we know) he went through several surgeries, implants, and took whatever drug his researched plopped in front of him. Several things went wrong, and his body couldn’t take it. It began with an extra arm, then eyes sprouting all over his body, his skin turning rancid, and his mind lost in a violent haze. I was hired by his wife, and paired with a group of hired muscle. We found him down in the sewers, begging for mercy, and we delivered it. He left behind twenty two children, and word is not a single one mourned for him.

Catblade Archives - Case of the Rogue Needle Machine
#art #OC #catblade #catbladeArchives
Strangled by tubes, his eye bleeding blue oil, Kenichi holds off a needle moving towards his eye while the machine lurks behind him Strange case, I almost died, and the pain was unbearable. The thing attacking me was a strange contraption, a robot with a body composed of several flexible tubes with vice grips containing a too long, too sharp needle, used for surgeries and the like in an experimental zoo. Two engineers, married, modified one of the things and injected a virus into the software, an illegal AI snagged from the black market. Reasons remain a mystery, as the couple ended up vanishing when the cops tried to question them. As expected, it went rogue, killing several security guards, a couple of gorillas, and two veterinarians. It fled into town, and I was called to hunt it down. Almost kills me, taking my shields down to nothing and piercing my eye. The Doc saved my sorry self after I managed to stop it by punching the main computer to scrap. The feds were mad about that. Guess they wanted whatever AI contaminated the thing. Not gonna lie, for a moment, I saw death inching closer to me. And I craved for it. I wondered if it was finally time to see them again in a better place. Or even nothingness. Would’ve welcomed that, too.
