Anyone else's TX Mountain Laurels infested by worms? (You can tell by the caterpillar poop on the ground)
I just unloaded a bottle of BT on their little butts.
I was hoping that the mockingbirds nesting in the tree would have enjoyed the buffet, but I guess they're finicky.

Twenty five years ago, I planted about forty box seedlings, which grew into the box hedging seen in the first photo.

At the end of April, I noticed that the hedge was not looking too good and found that it was infested with box caterpillar. Noooo! Four weeks later, it had nearly all been eaten.😔

Realised that our hedge (actually the neighbouring landlord’s hedge) is infested with box moth caterpillars 🐛😭

Anyone had any luck with Nematodes? Or is this hedge a goner?

One of them came with some amazing little flipping vampiric bugs . Small white weaving caterpillar things, a millimetre long and all over the place. And over summer it spread through the hall and they infested the Monstera. I was so proud of these huge leafy plants, every new leaf was a joy!

Had a second round of tomato hornworms appear. These ones got left on the plants since they are carrying the next generation of free pest control! #bugs #insects #permaculture #organic #gardening #foodgarden #ontario #norfolkcounty #garden2025

Man I’m really getting lucky with the caterpillars this week. I think this one is a pandorus sphynx. Unfortunately for it, it’s infested with parasitic wasps.
September 20, 2025 at 10:13 PM
Aww, this poor tussock moth caterpillar is just bursting with parasitoid wasps pupae. Gross but cool.

I captured one of the bugs that infested the lilac bush in the yard to narrow down the species and lost containment (mason jar lid was loose) while watching the newest episode of Alien Earth - The Fly.

It looks more like a caterpillar than a mite. It was off white with no markings and spins a web.

I didn’t know what was wrong with the box trees before we went away (thought maybe spider mite as there were webs @ bottom) but we came home to this & after a bit of research I have discovered the culprit- the box tree caterpillar. The trees are completely infested. Is this a new issue in Ireland?

Truly amazing! I had a similar encounter with both the moth and the caterpillar. Sadly the caterpillar was infested with wasp larvae and dead.

Had a wonderful time in Montauk today with my husband, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. We went up to the lighthouse and hiked the path around it before a fantastic lunch in town We saw no ticks but lots of deer, rabbits, cormorants, and gulls. Plus a woolly bear caterpillar. 1/2

22) Woolly bear caterpillars are 1) adorable; 2) have best name; 3) can be frozen (are frozen a lot!); 4) can be a caterpillar for over a decade; 5) will eat poisonous plants if infested with parasitic fly larvae to self-medicate. Best group of caterpillars overall, very untraditional

Any caterpillar people out there? Seems our garden is infested with these:

A government-funded campaign has begun spraying insecticides and biological agents on 240,000 acres of Maine’s North Woods infested with spruce budworm, a voracious forest pest that killed millions of spruce and fir trees during its last population explosion.
Maine tree spraying will kill any caterpillars, not just forest pest
While not toxic to people or most animals, pesticides to protect spruce and fir trees against budworm could also hurt the caterpillar form of two threatened butterflies. Spraying supporters say plans ...

I noticed yesterday that our red currant bush was infested with greenfly, whilst removing the worst affected leaves, I saw that it was also being attacked by sawfly grubs. To my pleasant surprise I then discovered four Comma caterpillars, which I’ve left alone. #comma #caterpillar #gardening #insect

Ohhhhhh no.
